When summer began, there was still a possibility that Sam's District would go on strike this fall. (Since then the contract has been approved by the teachers and is currently awaiting school board approval next month.) All teachers were encouraged to get a summer job and to do no unnecessary spending.
Sam got a job with Whelan along with several teachers in his district working at the new Vikings Training Center in Eagan.
He came home quite excited the first night - no papers to correct, no parents to call, no lesson plans to write! He's liking it! Even better, he's "guarding" the players' gate - he waves at the team daily!
