It is with great joy that I write this post today. Last night we attended the Lakeville North High School 17th Annual Senior Awards. We knew Micah was getting "something" because we were invited to this invitation only event.
The evening started with Departmental Senior Medal Winners given to the top academic students in each department. We found Micah's name under Family and Consumer Science. She was one of four medal recipients.
All three of us were a bit disappointed because we had truly been hoping that she would receive a scholarship. However, the evening wasn't over . . .
Micah was one of two recipients for the Lakeville Rotary Club "Service Above Self" Scholarships, honoring her volunteer service with Mercy Ships, New Life Family Services, Faith Club, church and Steiger, International as well as obstacles she has overcome - being a non-attentive ADHD student who is dyslexic with a receptive language disorder, having food allergies and being a multi-racial adoptee. She was awarded $1000.00 scholarship. For that we are grateful.
