Some time back, I went off of Prednisone for my PMR and began to take methotrexate once a week with folic acid every day - until this past Wednesday. My rheumatologist was not happy with my decreasing white blood count and asked me to stop taking all medication until after I met with a hematologist. That appointment is scheduled for June 1. Our hope is that I won't experience any side effects from going off of methotrexate or a return of my PMR symptoms between now and then. If I do, it's back to the drawing board and that board may include hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malarial touted by Trump. Unfortunately, with five summers in Africa, there are some anti-malarials that I can not take . . .
