Our Beloved Son . . .

Where do we begin?  In the early years, before it was evident how much Matt struggled with school and yet, when we knew something wasn't quite right?  Or knowing that he had no idea how to even hold a pencil, let alone which hand to use?  Do we talk about the hours spent at Children's Hospital or the Alexander Center, trying to get a handle on how Matt learned best?  Maybe we talk about the special program we worked on four mornings a week for over two years just so he could learn how to read?  Or maybe we should just fast forward to last night . . . thanking God for all the tools He provided us with to help Matt learn and thanking God for our beloved son because . . .

Last night was the Lakeville North High School 14th Annual Senior Awards.  We had received two letters in April - we knew Matt was going to receive a departmental award and a scholarship.  Our future high school phys ed teacher was one of ten Departmental Senior Medal Winners in the Physical Education/Health Department.  And he was one of five recipients for the American Red Cross Young Minds Change Lives Educational Scholarship, receiving $500.00.  Obviously, they agreed with Matt when he wrote, "It is my hope that the American Red Cross will consider me worthy of their Red Cross Educational Scholarship for it has been my pleasure to represent you through my employment."

Well done, Matt.  We are proud of YOU!
