There's a story behind this month's photo - and we hope you'll take time to read it. When we first moved into our neighborhood a little over twelve years ago, this mail box had a lovely well, kept garden and the gardener became a very dear friend of mine. Over the course of these twelve years, she's gone through a lot - her husband has been deployed three times (currently to Fort McCoy in Wisconsin, but twice to Iraq), she has had three brain tumor surgeries and multiple body failures. Yet, her faith has kept her strong . . . Unfortunately, faith isn't always a good gardener and bit by bit her garden got a little smaller and a little more unkept . . . until today! It was Forced Family Fun Time (also known as 3FT) for the Zupkes and we went up to our dear friend"s house and went to work weeding, mulching and replanting. We even got her youngest son involved. Now, it was suppose to be a birthday surprise for her. They were leaving town at noon today, but had a change of plans. Unfortunately, this was the only time we could do it together as a family so we just went over and yelled, "Surprise!" and went to work. The end result is a much smaller garden that looks great - including the lovely hummingbird! - and it will be much easier to care for! Hugs to you, my dear friend! And Happy Birthday!
