Tonight we come to you from the Mercy Ships International Operations Center in Lindale, Texas (that would be Margo and Micah Zupke, Kids On Boarding Program, Mercy Ships, PO Box 2020, Lindate, TX 75771-2020 for all of you who want to keep your local mail person gainfully employed)!
Our luggage barely made the 50 pound limit (thanks for packing, Sam!); our flights, while turbulent, were on time or early; our co-workers seem quite lovely; we've had dinner with people from around the world; and the pool should be ready by mid-week. Our classroom looks great; we're winging tomorrow with zeal; and it's hot! That said - our accommodations are truly "Hotel Mercy". Erin, the Onboarding Assistant, took it upon herself to remove us from the children we'll be working with daily and put us up in the Mercy Ship's Guest House:
That, my friends, is truly our front door. We are going to live in your standard hotel room (minus the TV) for the next five weeks. Were we paying to be here, it would be $50.00/night for double occupancy. But what do we have that no other family on campus has - our very own bathroom! Yup, they're all sharing (might we add with the single men and women!) while we're living in the lap of luxury! To God be the glory! Until next time . . .
