Rat Watch

We're in the process of getting ready for the sail.  A lot of our structures are being taken down and packed away.  I found out at dinner tonight who lived in/under/behind/around those structures!  The rats!  In fact, the rats are suppose to be SOOOO LARGE that they're easily spotted from Deck 7.  So, it may not happen tonight, but it will happen soon . . . Matt and Margo on RAT WATCH!  We'll give you a beastly report!

Two Bits From the Beach

Just two bits from our day at the beach:

THE GROSSEST THING:  had to be the poopy diaper that floated in while we were swimming.  The girls found it.

THE BEST THING:  had two be the two nuns who came to the beach in their habits, took them off, and went swimming in their bikinis!

To Matt's Teachers at North

The translation may be a bit off!
While you were busy with finals today, we thought it would be good to show you Matt really is working in Africa!  After two days of rain, it was a gorgeous day and we headed off to the beach!

He worked pretty hard!

Someone had to help dig the hole!

Where are Matt and Margo?

Summer Program

Rainy season has begun.  Yesterday's field trip was postponed until today because of rain.  Today's field trip which was actually yesterday's field trip was postponed until tomorrow because of rain.  In fact, the forecast for tomorrow is rain.  But I found out today that the beach we were suppose to go to yesterday and then today, we will be going to tomorrow because there is a shelter and it hasn't rained all day long either day so we're hoping that even if there is rain tomorrow, it won't be all day so we can get some quality fun on the beach!  All that said, it has been good.  The staff are young, full of energy, willing to work and they do great with the kids.  Check it out:

Football!

Matt and I went to the Dayworker vs. Crew football (soccer) match on Sunday!  It was in a lovely stadium - check out the view:

It was a hard fought game - with plenty of laughs!

The dayworkers proved victorious with a 2-1 victory!

The Togolese Navy

Interestingly enough, the Togolese Navy is docked right across the port from us.  Matt and I woke up Sunday morning to see their sailors swimming past the ship.  Check out their fleet:

Pirate Watch

This handsome young man with me is part of the pirate watch plan.  He and his buddy around the corner mainly stand there in order to deter any unwanted visitors.  They're fairly easy crew mates - they don't eat much, never sleep on the job, and are always willing to work!  They bring new meaning to the word "manikin"!

Rather looks like Sam, eh?
They do have quite the lovely view.  They can just watch the ships come and go.  At least my buddy can!
